About the artwork:

Aurinko laskee syksyllä länteen (The sun sets in the west during the autumn) is an original artwork that I created in 2023 to join my latest Birds - series. The whole series was exhibited for the first time in the summer exhibition of Art Center Salmela in 2024.

This little painting came to life while I was working in an artist residency during the fall. Every evening in my residency studio I was mesmerized by the the softest sunlight beaming in from the windows. This artwork is all about the dance of the delicate colours in the autumn light, and the magic of presence one can find while looking and listening closely to nature. In this painting - like in all of the paintings of the Birds - series one can find birds and an abstract figure hidden in the canvas. This 20 cm x 20 cm sized artwork is an acrylic painting on canvas, started and finished in 2023.
